With this exhibition, a surprising situation is created by bringing the surrounding environment into the museum. A neighbourhood street of working-class houses is rebuilt inside the museum's Magasin aux Foins exhibition hall. The neighbourhood becomes the subject of the exhibition, the scenography itself a piece of art, a 'gesamtkunstwerk' where existing pieces are brought together with new work.


At twilight, when everything becomes still, the visitor strolls the street. Their curiosity and imagination are triggered. They look through a lit-up window, peek through a gap, glimpse through a key hole. They discover unexpected images: rooms gradually revealing Lachaert and d’Hanis’ oeuvre.


Every room presents one or more objects in a unique configuration, with the proper intimacy. These rooms are subtle presentations, with each object set up in a specific context which encourages the visitor to look more mindfully. Other, more profound layers of meaning are discovered…
